Operation Goodwood is a meticulous examination of what is known as, "Kursk in Normandy" due to over 900 tanks battling in an area of only a few miles. It had success written all over it from the numbers of men and tanks and massive bombing from the air, yet, it was a controversial battle that utterly failed to gain much. The mistakes were numerous and the massive bombing did little. It was Rommel's last battle and he hid 70+ 88mm guns in various locations that overlooked the battle area. The German SS armor formations all waited for the "big show". The book covers it all including first hand accounts of the bloody and vicious fighting that included Tiger I and II tanks, tactics employed, numerous maps and battle statistics. Details of unit compositon and photos complete the thorough examination of this historic battle.
